Does it really matter? This photograph technically isn't "my work". Who cares who makes the point, as long as it's made?

Yeah it does matter if your an artist. He is no better than people who go around and slighty modify other peoples drawings to make shirts.

If the photograph isnt you work what the heck is it up for?

The point that I see is being made is sad and is often repeated. These so called rebels soon join the system that we thought they were fighting.

Fuck Obey. Fuck Shepard Fairey. Your not a graffiti artist so I dont expect you to understand.

You're right, I am not a graffiti artist. I don't understand because I am not exhibitioning my work for whatever gain I get out of it.

I am however a bystander who will look at it, stand still and ponder and take something with me. It is irrelevant to me whether it was Banksy's idea or Joe Bloggs, if it has a genuine meaning then it's worthwhile in my opinion. If this all comes down to petty politics and debates about originality then maybe they should focus on more pretty art or keep it for galleries for where they can sue one another for stealing the limelight of the show.

Its not about suing, its about credit where credit is due. Its good that it cause some thought but in the end, all it does is promote his shit clothing line that is like the rest of the clothing lines out there. They create a logo or icon and just print it on shirts with different colors styles and other lazy methods. The only difference is that Obey has "street cred"

How would you feel if I started taking your photographs and work along with other peoples, started slapping my logo on it, changing the colors on the computer and adding some cheap effects and making graffiti and getting rich off of it all while taking credit for being a rebel and a pioneer?

He has done countless things for graffiti but he is a complete sellout now.

Its like Disney movies. Sure they make you feel good and have a good message at the end of the movie but there is some negative aspects to it (like racism), which not alot of people get.
